My name is Paula Fiander, though most of my clients know me simply as the Move Lady.

When my parents began downsizing, I helped them sort through their 2,900 sq. ft. home — and two barns — to transition into a cozy 1,000 sq. ft. home in a retirement community. Despite being organized, I quickly realized how emotionally and physically exhausting this process could be. I remember wondering, What would my parents have done if I couldn’t take time off work to help them?

That question became the inspiration behind Moving Solutions for Seniors — a service designed to support seniors and their families through every step of the moving process.

A move to a new home always begins with a decision. Sometimes it’s proactive — a desire for a simpler lifestyle or to be closer to family — and sometimes it’s prompted by changing health needs. Whatever the reason, there’s a moment when a senior recognizes it’s time to move forward.

At Moving Solutions for Seniors, we understand that this transition can feel overwhelming. That’s why we go beyond packing boxes — we guide seniors and their families through the entire process with compassion, care, and expertise.

Our goal is to make every move a “rightsizing” experience — one that celebrates a new chapter rather than focusing on what’s being left behind.

Phase 1 - Packing Service

Thoughtful preparation sets the stage for a smooth transition. We work closely with seniors and their families — whether local or at a distance — to create a clear, organized, and personalized plan.

    • Floor plan design and consultation for the new home: measuring your furniture and measuring your new home space to ensure your furniture will fit ahead of time.

    • Packing material provided: book boxes, 2cube, 4cube, art boxes and wardrobes to hang clothing.

    • Help clients maintain focus, sort and make decisions on the items that will fit in the new space.

    • Professionally packing the contents being moved to your new home, to be ready for movers arrival.

    • Schedule for packing is flexible to the clients needs.

    • Prepare photographs of how items are arranged in cabinets, cupboards, curio: We are mindful of keeping the clients contents set up similar.

    • Provide emotional support to the client, and help with challenges during the move.

    With this thoughtful approach, we help seniors feel confident, supported, and ready for what’s next.

Phase 2 - Move In Service

When the process is handled with care, moving day can actually be exciting! Our team ensures everything runs smoothly so you can focus on settling in, not stressing out.

    • Assistance in finding reputable movers and arranging your move in date.

    • Serve as a point person and direct movers when they arrive at current residence and at new residence.

    • In the AM of the move we will load coolers with food, pack up final electronic from TV, computer, phones, pack bedding, hang clothing into wardrobes, and final kitchen items coffee maker etc.

    • At your new home, we ensure furniture placement as previously planned in the floorplan, with consideration for safety and convenience.

    • Unpacking/put away of belongings after the move, including the set up of clock radios and appliances.

    • SHAW or TELUS Technician will be arranged by client, is supported by us to ensure function.

    • Picture and mirror placement, as previously planned, can be done day of the move or we can come back on another day that suits your schedule.

    • Packing material and trash removal from site.

    • When you arrive at 5 PM, your new home is ready, so you can put the finishing touches that make it your own.

    With us on your side, moving day feels less like chaos — and more like a fresh start.

Phase 3 - Rightsize and Clean Out Service

Some clients have this phase done after they move out or some clients decide to do it before they move. What ever works best for each situation.

    • Pack and sort remaining items going to charity or landfill: packing materials will be supplied.

    • Complete a photo inventory of items being donated.

    • Consultation with charity company to arrange items and date for removal and pick up of any remaining furniture and contents going to charity.

    • Consultation with trash removal company to arrange items and date for pick up and delivery to landfill, recycling depot or Battery Doctor:

    • Items going to Family, can be packed by Moving Solutions: we can arrange shipping to family in other provinces.

    • Carpet cleaning Service: when applicable.

    • Basic cleaning of the previous residence to be ready for new home owners.

    • Arrange a contact for client for consigning furniture or antique dealer.

    • Review and final walk through with client.

    Whether it’s preparing a home for sale or clearing out a lifetime of memories, we handle every task with dignity, compassion, and care.

    With almost no notice, Paula found time in her week to fit in a move to long term care. Within a few hours, her team had sorted and packed what was required and turned what was a cold like hospital like room into a cozy bed sitting room. Even the staff at the care home were impress. They knew exactly what items to bring, how to set everything up and filed the empty walls with paintings and pictures. I am so grateful to them for making this so easy.

  • Thank you for working with me.  Your input, design ideas and designing the floor plan were greatly appreciated.  Moving from my house to a smaller suite demanded major downsizing, not always easy.  Each time you (Paula), Belinda, Jody and Lisa were at my house I felt energized that this move was possible.  You have very special ladies working with you.

  • A few months ago I had the pleasure of being moved from my home to Westwood Retirement Resort by "Moving Solutions for Seniors".  What a wonderful experience it was.  They are an awesome team; very caring, careful with your precious belongings, and have everything put in place with pictures hung.  My new home was all done in a day.  This team is genuinely on your side when you need to move.  Exemplary!

    • supervised the move on moving day,

    • placed furniture, pictures and other belongings in the new accommodation,

  • It is now over a month since we moved to our new home. I can’t begin to tell you how Moving Solutions For Seniors made our move a real pleasure.  Our home sold in 5 days and since we had only a very short time to re-locate, Moving Solutions for Seniors came to our rescue almost the next day, arriving on the scene with large packing boxes, paper, and a staff who knew exactly how to organize everything. We had been in our home 10 years, moved only twice since arriving in Kelowna so had accumulated a great deal. We wanted to give away many things to charities and you helped us with that, along with transporting anything that we no longer needed.  Paula came every day and was so helpful and cheerful. Since our suite was vacant, you measured the rooms and helped us to fit in all our furniture.  Our moving day, we left our home at 8 a.m. and arrived at our new home at 4 p.m.  We couldn’t believe what a wonderful job they had done. Every piece of furniture was in place, everything was unpacked, beds made, food in the frig and freezer, every ornament and book in place and some pictures already hanging. The bouquets of tulips were lovely; there was not a box or scrap of paper anywhere.   They came back the next day to help us hang the rest of the pictures. Thank you and your wonderful staff for making our move so pleasant.

  • Paula, My wife, Irene Claggett and I would like to thank you for sending us a beautiful plant last week.  We have lived at Missionwood for just over a month and are beginning to settle in. It certainly is a lifestyle change for us.

    We want to express our thanks and appreciation for all of your assistance with our move from 1020 Lanfranco to Missionwood. While it was the most difficult move either of us has experienced because of radical downsizing, you and your colleagues did a fantastic job in preparing for, and carrying out the move. It's amazing how much "stuff" one accumulates over the years. Your professionalism and expertise were certainly noted throughout the moving process, hastened somewhat when our townhouse sold in one day.

    Moving day was something else. In less than an hour and a half, the furniture, clothing and personal effects were gone, leaving Irene and me to tidy up the house. Less than six hours later, the telephone rang and we were informed that our new apartment at Missionwood was now ready. We were totally amazed upon our arrival to see the apartment totally furnished, cupboards filled, TV music playing, computer set up and everything in sparkling order. Not an empty cardboard box to be seen. We have never experienced such a service.  Paula, your company, and their professionalism is special. We cannot thank you enough.
